Imagine:
Every time you want to travel by public transport, go to the pub, stay
in a hotel or enjoy a tour you have to ask: is it accessible? Most
of times you would have to face a “No” or “don’t know”. Even when is
“yes” you cannot really rely on it. Up to 30% of the population are in
this situation.
Before
us there is a growing group of People with Limited Mobility (PwLM) who
are demanding Accessible Tourism. However, tourism products and
services are, in general, far of being prepared to accommodate the
needs of this group of people. This means no tourism access for many.
This creates frustration among PwLM and it poses a question that lies beyond not meeting a
market segment; it is a question of injustice that as a society we
should face and resolve. In order to expand the knowledge on the needs
of people with reduces mobility (from parents with prams and shopping
trolleys to wheelchair users and seniors).
I am collecting data (and you can help me).You can do it responding to this brief questionnaire http://bit.ly/9pPrBH. You just need to be a PwLM or a usual companion.
